Did anyone hear the traffic report on FM 100 the other day where the traffic reporter broke into a prayer in the middle of her report? I got an e-mail today with a sound clip of the incident and it sounds authentic. It is hilarious! The traffic reporter sounds groggy and her speech is slurred (the e-mail claimed she was on some heavy cold medication), and then she closes her report in the traditional way that Mormons close their prayers. Although I can't post a sound clip to this board, here is the transcript:
"Thanks Bill...and several issues to pass along...the major roadways beginning to clear out nicely...southbound I-15 looking better from 33rd South all the way out to the 44th South. Heading into Davis County you'll still run into some slowing in the Bountiful area, for the most part people are moving pretty well...and, we're grateful for this wonderful day and we humbly say these things in the name of Thy Son, Jesus Christ, amen."
My question is, did anyone actually hear this on the radio? I'm trying to figure out if the clip I got is some kind of hoax. It sounds pretty authentic...and who would make up something so crazy?

It could be made up or it could be real. The possibilities are enormous. I'd like to hear it though. Could you email it to utr@trashymail.com for me?

It doesn't make any sense.
I've heard Christie Snow (don't believe that's her real name, though) for years on various stations, and she's a really good traffic reporter. I can''t figure out how this would happen.
The bumper sounds a little tampered with in the recording ... BUT, it's her voice alright.
Yeah, if anybody knows Christy, some light on the background of the story would be great.
Funny clip! Thanks for posting.

I was wondering too about the validity. The lengthy pause of just bed music at the end? The conclusion I could come up with was that Bill was just cracking up and couldn't open the mic. Wonder what happened next....

I heard a recording of the traffic report last week. Strange indeed. It must of happened the weekend of May 5-6. So, She said it on the weekend when most LDS Wards had their monthly fast and testimony meetings and so maybe that somehow ties into why it happened. I guess we can add this to the likes of those times over the past 10-20 years when various radio personalities thought the microphone was off and it wasn't and said plenty of four letter words on the air.

Sorry, but it doesn't sound a thing like Christy Snow to me. I think it's fake.

Yeah... but I've never heard Christy that slurry before. Does anyone know her? Can anyone talk to someone over at Metro Traffic or KSFI and back up the story?

Based on my quick analysis, I think it's a fake. There are things in there that just don't sound right. I'll need to do a more complete analysis, but that's my initial impression.

I think someone wants us to think it's her and also is playing a great private joke on her at the same time. ;D
Thanks for the link, cwhathapnz! By the way, you've got a great ID name! Very inventive!

....note she says "...to the 44th south..." *the* 44th south? Just like we don't say "the 15" here but rather "I-15". Makes me wonder....

I heard that too FriendLee, but sometime she'll make references like "traffic's backed up to about 86th south." There's no 86th South offramp, but it gives a general idea.
Add that to the potential of being zonked out on cold medication.
But that's her voice alright, if not a darn good imitation, because I can't tell the difference. My only wonder is how the traffic pad starts, and then stops and starts over again. But I've heard (and done) worse board work in the studio before.

Well, if it is real, then it begs the question: just how zonked out do you have to be to confuse giving a traffic report with giving a prayer? I wonder if she immediately realized what she'd said or if someone had to tell her.
