Local Local Local huh? I think it's hilarious that they're "Fighting corporate radio". They are a corporation too, based outta Chicago. Local ****! Plus I don't totally understand the animosity, granted all of em almost lost their jobs, but if ya pay your bills, that don't happen. ^^^^ Tough words ... from a user account with only 1 post. Millcreek is clearly the most "local-live" group in town. If that's a joke, then it's more a statement on Salt Lake City radio, not the company.

While it is true that Millcreek WAS owned by Marathon Media based out of Chicago, for well over a year, they have operated as an independent entity. During that period, they paid down almost all of the "bills" that you speak of. The only thing they did not have control over was the rights to the signal.
Now that Marathon successfully completed the transaction with Citadel, they are owned and operated locally.
One can only assume that the reason for the animosity is not only having their signal taken over by one major corporation, but also being screwed over by their former corporation (Marathon).
Being a fellow 1 poster, I want to applaud what they are trying to do. I hope they survive because they are everything that is good with radio!

If you include single stations or duos, then I think KTKK qualifies as being the most "uncorporate" or "local" commercial station in the local market, perhaps followed by KLO & "The Breeze". Or pehaps followed by KSOP. If you restrict your definition of "group" to "owns three or more stations" then I think the argument could be made that Bonneville is the most locally focused group.

Great point! We are certainly not the only game in town when it comes to local radio. My hat is off to anyone who tries to do it on their own.

Good Luck Rog. As we have seen so many times in this scummy business, the good guys always get screwed. Best wishes.

Looks like 94.9 stole the Blaze's morning show as well!
Hey Rog... maybe they'll steal you next!

I am pretty sure, judging from his previous posts, that Big Rog is the captain of that ship and if/when it goes down, he will be the last one on it.
Plus, if Citadel has not contacted him yet about an on-air position, I don't think they are planning on it.
I heard that Marcus (the morning show in question) resigned, but saw an e-mail from a blaze person saying that they fired him...what's to gain by lying? Curious on that one.

Awesome! Utah has 4 rock radio station's again. lol But the blaze is still the best IMO. I don't like the name for 94.9 though... 94.9 rocks? Couldn't someone have come up with a better name? Seriously. Maybe "Mad Dog 94.9" lol.

Hey guys, Let me be clear about this - if anyone from Citadel is reading this - it would be a waste of your time to call me. Save your breath. If this ship is going down (and let's face it, that's a BIG IF), I will be going down with it. I'm not the captain by any means but I'm VERY happy here and VERY emotionally invested in The Blaze. You can't buy me. Besides Marcus would just quit if you hired me anyway! Speaking of Marcus, fishking, I wasn't a part of the discussions that led to his leaving so I can't tell you with 100% accuracy what happened. I do know he wasn't exactly LOVED over here and despite his best efforts no one else is going with him. So I'll let that speak for itself. I wouldn't be betting against us just yet. ROG PS - Thanks for the love Draco!

Saturday night I heard something about 'Mick and Allen' on 94.9 during one of their sweepers. Anyone else hear this one?
Is it even possible that KKAT 107.5 could be headed to 101.1 to go up against the Eagle? And thus 94.9 ends up with the KBER calls?

We'll see how long 97.5 will stay on the air. If the owner gets access to their main transmitter in Coalville again, everything should be fine however, they applied to run their booster in SLC with 400 watts as their emergency backup and were denied. There is zero COL coverage in Coalville from SLC. Since KOAY went on the air with only their booster, they have been transmitting illegally and can be fined and shut down at any time. True 'Rebels'. Let's hope the owners of the station can get access to their main transmitter soon.

I use to think that way until I found myself along with my family on the streets. Literally!!

I heard the sweeper you're talking about. It was Marcus saying, and I quote very loosely, "how he'd be back on the air after the corporate lackeys finished building his gold hot tub"...then he said "oh, it's for Mick and Allen?"
Don't think there's anything more there than a promo for Marcus.
