Does anyone else think its lame of 97-1 to be such hard a**ses about their "phrase that pays"? I mean, some people even have it on their answering machines and stuff... but if its like one word off. *Poof* No money. I frankly hope this hurts them in the ratings and turns even more listeners off... I think its lame personally.
'Course I miss the 80s music too. No wonder I now listen to KBEE (which I never did regularly before January).

Let's face it CC SLC owns too many stations. They try hard (to their credit) not to let them overlap, but in doing so, make lousy stations. Why not cut the fat, sell the losers (KISN, KURR, etc.) and take say 4-6 of the stations overall and make real winners out of them. Plus the cash from the sale can go into these stations. Maybe get some good talent on the air?

I so agree Henry!! It would be in best interest to sell off a couple stations. More competion would be better programming and more choices. I would like to see Infinity move into this market it seems they do some good programming around the states.

Just PLEASE, no "Blink 97.1"

Isn't that awful? After all those months of hoping for something great, NYC is stuck with the silliest idea yet. WHUD will pull better numbers than Blink, and they're licenced something like 100 miles away.
If Blink comes here, I'll rip the radio out of my car.

That would be great.. But then the might pull 3 + ratings and I'm sure they don't want that, I think they like the 1.0 to 1.5 ratings I must also agree I'm not a fan of KISS Fm they need to look into something different or original bring on the KBIG format that would be great *SLAP ACROSS THE FACE* darn must of been in a daydeam thanks for bringing me back to reality ;D

I hear ya guys. Hey, my predictions are getting pretty damn good! I did predict here that CC was going to take KISN and make it another KISS CLONE before it happened And sure enough they did. I have listened very little to the new KISS 97.1. I listened in the day they did it.....just long enough for me to say "yup....sounds just like their other kiss clones." What a waste. I like the KBIG 104 idea too. Heck, even a lot of us here agreed that given a little more time, FEVER 107.9 might have had some moderate success. I REALLY liked that station. Then again, I grew up in the south....we had lots of black artists and black music everywhere no matter what you listened to. I still think it was different. I am not the biggest millcreek fan, but I gotta admit....that idea was indeed different. Original? No. They did it whenever "jammin' oldies" stations were coming online in just about every big market. But different? YES! Especially for Salt Lake. I loved it and I miss it! Jammin' 92.5 is still going in Denver. Was just there last weekend. They've tweaked their format a bit, though and they include some "rhythmic sounding" stuff from the 80s and I believe early 90s as well. Other than that they were mostly 60s, 70s, and early 80s originally. It still sounds pretty damn good, though. On another side note in predicitions, I mentioned a while back about the new 820 AM and the KUTR calls possibly coming on as an "LDS Oriented" format just like the old KUTR 1320 and even earlier KUTR 860. At that time Mike Carver was PD. I think he's at Q92 in Logan now. I heard a rumor that Mike was approached about programming the new station once it comes on....so it looks like that may be what's going to come of the new 820. We'll see. Still interesting to figure out what the heck Citadel is going to do with 860. It's got a nice strong signal. They could compete with some other MUSIC stations or do something different. Maybe the "classic soul" or "jammin oldies" thing could work. It's AM, but if it's something people can't get anywhere else, they'll listen! Now THAT would be an awesome idea! There's "classic soul" and "rhythmic" stations doing pretty well all over the place on AM back east. New York, New Jersey and so forth. It could work! Especially if it's something like "jammin oldies" that people can't get anywhere else. Let's bring a little music back to AM. We've got enough chit chat bulls#!t on the dial! oh..uh....allright.... **SLAP!!** ... my slap back to reality Michael n WYO

Hate to break it to you Mike, but the station I think you're referring to in NYC (WWRL) is phasing out the music. Of course, that format didn't make it on a good solid FM signal (105.1 WTJM), so it really didn't have a prayer on AM.

Like I said.....slap back to reality.
Even WILD-AM in Boston is pulling a 1.3 doing it. Not too bad for an AM. Then again I guess the "suits" would look at that same ratings listing and say "Yeah, and look at WBZ. They're number one with an 8 share and they're TALK. So let's go TALK." I was wrong and you were right.
AM is dead Mike....let it die.

Speaking for KBIG, I'm streaming it right now! I like it. For a brief moment (about five minutes) I thought KISN was taking that approach. Then they put on Counting Crows or something, so I thought otherwise.
KBIG is great. I'd make it a preset if it came here. I was also hoping that KBEE would be more like KBIG (if KISN didn't). Both KBIG and KBEE made the move from Hot AC to AC exactly the same time (first of Jan 02). I figured they were trying to copy it, but I was wrong. It looks like it's working for Citadel though. The bee looks healthier than it has since 2000.
I still think KBIG "KISN 97" would've been a good idea too.
Anyone crossing their fingers that a "Fever 106.1" appears? I'm crossing them, but I'm not counting on it.

First of all 97-1 KISS FM is not a true clone. The "KISS CLONES" are all mainstream top 40's, and are all paterned after KIIS in LA. KISN may now hold the name KISS but it is nowhere close to being a clone. They are Hot Ac targeting an older audience then the Mainstream KISSES, not to mention they have their own logo. They don't use the same round blue ball 102.7 KIIS FM logo all the other KISSES use.
I don't think its bad. I kind of like it. It sure is a lot better then KQMB!
