Now that the Department of Justice has issued its "edict" on the merger of satcaster giants XM and Sirius, the National Association of Broadcasters is stepping up its own campaign to persuade the FCC to "soften the blow." Eddie Frits of the NAB is lobbying for support from Congress to tighten some of the potential screws on the deal. Key to his company is preventing the services from offering local news and weather. Yet another group of Washington Congressmen, including Utah's Orrin Hatch, want the new company to place some of its bandwidth in the hands of educational and minority groups.
