Good Morning Utah anchor Erica Edberg's name and pic have been removed from the website, while Ross Becker, evening and 10o'clock anchor had fill-in's for the past week. Also checked ABC 4's job listings, and they have an anchor/reporter position open.

If an anchor is fired and no one is there to watch it did the anchor really get fired?

I'm thinking either a major overhaul for the operation in the next month, or a cutback to one single 10PM newscast due to lack of bodies

I think this is good news for Ross Becker! I hope they let him go, because he seemed to me like a real hot shot, coming into the station and just sliding right into Terry Wood's position as if nothing had happened. Since the release of Ruth Todd, I have become disloyal to Channel 4.
Randall Carlisle and Terry Wood keep hanging in there! But another talent they should let go is Marti Skold! Not good for Channel 4 or for the Salt Lake Market! And when did Chris Jones leave for Channel 2?

I wrote in to the News Director a couple of years ago that I couldn't watch their newscast because Erica Edburg made me uncomfortable watching her on camera because she seemed so damn uncomfortable in her own skin. Then, the heavy make-up started and finally, she ends up looking like this guy I went to high school with.
Marti Skold...uh, uh. Nope. She needs to do a Broadway show. She's the big, brassy, blonde Ethel Merman of SLC Television. Finally, I never cared for any of that phony Sex In The City team they put together at 4. It was silly and shallow and the only people entertained were the gals doing it.

It's too bad people in the industry have to deal with PERSONAL attacks from people like you. I wonder what you say about me?!?
Ross Becker is one of the few, real journalists left in the business.

Erika was let go last week. Jill resigned. Dan and others have simply quietly disappeared.
As for weather, even if there are qualified technical staff preparing the forecasts and graphics, if the presenter is not a degreed meteorologist it shows a lack of respect on the part of ownership and management for their viewers. When the lead weatherperson tells the viewers that graupel is spelled groppel and calls it a Weather 101 Lesson, and is still on-air 5 months later, then one has to question the intelligence, as well, of management.

Uh, voice, let me help you out with your over-inflated sense of self-importance.
My telelvision career began in 1978 as a fresh graduate intern at KUED, CH 7. I was a documentary research producer.
I worked for years after that at the old KSTU-TV, which became FOX13. There are still people working there that I hired in the mid-80's. After that it was years at KSL and KUTV.
Don't give me your "us poor professionals on the inside who have to put up with what you hillbillies have to say about "us"-crap.
You have no idea what I know, who I know or how I know it.
And I'll leave you with this: You probably work at KTVX. You might, and I say with all conviction, might, be a fresh sales flunky or at the very least, a studio troll. Or maybe you're Ross Becker.

Hey, voice, sorry, I read one of your posts on another page and you're not a KTVX flunky, you're a radio flunky.

Seems like the KTVX weatherfolk have problems with graupel. There was one time when Jeff James (the morning weather guy before Marti Skold) was standing out on the "weather porch" and was talking about the "snow pellety" things on the ground around him. Graupel, man!
And he was from Minnesota just like Marti. I guess they're graupel impaired in those parts. (Feel free to correct me, anyone with Minnesota ties.)

Hi Mon.. Yipes on the James thing.. Sounds like his cast may have been Magid'd to the lowest common denomimator Consultants like Magid seem to hold unimaginable powers over what can and cannot be said on the air for best viewer "acceptance.. He's AMS and NWA..

So I'm guessing those guys are the reason that nobody can talk about the dewpoint on air anymore...

would be a good guess.. "emanating" was a "do not use" word for describing airflow from a region.

Actually, I've heard that Randall Carlisle was let go this week. Bad move for KTVX.
