An e-mail from Con Psarras:
I’m sorry to report that a well-respected and well-liked colleague, Brink Chipman, passed away yesterday at his home in Boise, Idaho. Brink had a long and productive career in broadcast journalism, beginning at KUTV in Salt Lake City, and ending with his retirement in 2004 after several years as News Director at KSL. In between, he had served as a News Director in Tucson and Boise, and as a news consultant for various broadcast entities. Those of us who had the privilege and pleasure of working with Brink will remember him as a passionate journalist with a commitment to excellence of the highest standard. Some may have referred to him as a “hard-nosed” newsman, but he was also a warm and compassionate friend who served as a valuable and trusted mentor to hundreds of us. Through his long battle with cancer, Brink maintained his optimism, his humor and his sense of fun. He will be missed. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday afternoon in Boise.
