While not directly effecting the SLC market, there's a big deal going down in San Francisco, Seattle, Cincinnati and other places. Bonneville is trading Longtime legendary soft rocker KOIT in SF along with classical KDFC and KMAX for KIRO (already been there), KTTH and KBSG in Seattle. The deal is HERE. I know KIRO has been struggling for years and Bonneville was VERY successful before selling. People on other boards are speculating the many flips and other items. Some think Entercom may ax KMAX (like Jack-FM) and due to their lack of history programming classical, they may torch KDFC. People in SF are also saying (wishing) Entercom may flip KMAX to the Wolf country or a Z95.7 CHR-Pop format that have been missing in that market. Some in Seattle think they may follow suit and put news on FM as well with Oldies KBSG. I don't know much about Cincy and the other parts of this deal. But having lived in or near the other markets in play, I have good interest. It's always exciting when ownership changes hands. Granted there will be some casualties but what could be done? What are your thoughts?
