Since I was called out specifically.
I appreciate the opportunity to come here and spout off on any number of radio and non-radio related subjects. Ultimately, I realize that I am a guest here (as we all are) and if those that pay the bills want to ban certain words, thoughts or behavior it is their right. I don't see the "censorship" expressed in this board as an affront to my free speech at all. And even if I did, it would be much better to find a another venue for my "catharsis therapy". Free speech is not a protected right in private venues anyway.
Overall, I think we have a very respectful bunch around here. I think most feel comfortable spouting off about any number ideas, topics or opinions. With that said, I still think that banning proper names really does stoop to the level of "thought police" but that's just my opinion.
I didn't even use the "offensive" name to begin with... In retrospect I probably just overreacted.
As an aside there is another board that I frequent that takes "censorship" to a whole new level by not only filtering but also replacing offensive words with other words with sometimes humorous results. Example: they replace expletives with "Smurf" or "Smurfing".

Totally unfair when you pays the consequences for doubleyou's actions. ...ok, through clowning around with this now. This is a good place and I remember the devious tenacity displayed that made the action necessary. It makes more sense than trying to monitor 24/7. Who can afford to pay that much overtime? ;D

For what it's worth: I think this board is more fair having an automated search-and-replace than the way I used to do mine. For those who remember the ghetto (now demolished) city of the defunct UTRadioGuide board, I used to have to go in and edit offensive posts by hand. Now if that isn't censorship, I don't know what is - - but I felt it needed to be done to keep the board from degenerating. It's been suck a relief these past few years not to have to deal with moderating a board - and I enjoy being able to log on a read without having to get involved. Props to the mods of this board.

ever get the feeling you're one of a ... dozen or two? it's kinda ... quiet.
so when the dust-ups create threads such as "the 'responses to criticism' thread" (which makes me chortle! sweartadawg), it's exciting! grimbasement, bring it!
