OK. Where did THAT one come from? Today was the first I'd heard of it.
Anyone know what the distance is that a class D translator needs to be from a full service station?

I'm a student here in Morgan and first let me say finally a strong signal for the Morgan area Some of us was hoping for a rap station since we don't have one up here (Not all Country folks y'all up here) the station has been testing for about 2 weeks and finally went on the air a few days ago with KJQ that's ok it's a start...... FWIW, I'm noticing no difference at all in 103.1 from the southern end of Weber County.

I'm getting conflicting stories on the 2 local websites! SLC/URN is reporting a new station KPEB has signed on the air with KJQN and UTRGuide is reporting a new CP for KPEB. So after doing some research KPEB filed for the CP on 3/2001 almost 3 years ago which is about the correct time for application approval to sign-on. So I decided to take a ride up to the Morgan /Huntsville area and I would say that KPEB is on the air, Now it say's it reaches the Ogden area but if it does it is VERY weak, but right now it seems that KPEB is running weak right now so maybe it's testing before full power up. I guess its difficult to tell on areas of the front since KJQN's class D translator at 103.1 has decent coverage into Davis County (and beyond)... how can one tell a translator's signal from an actual antenna's- unless you're an engineer with the equipment I suppose.

A highly directional FM antenna would do it, if I knew how to build one. Also of note, KJQ is still pushing 100.7 for the Ogden area. (I'll go into that in another post.) Radio-Locator doesn't have a coverage map for them yet, but I'd guess there's a significant overlap with the main KJQN. Maybe their just doing the simulcast during testing? Wild thought. The new and improved KMXU reaches up through North Salt Lake. KJQN is decent (at least on my radio) *down* to North Salt Lake. Could the 103.1 translator be changed to a booster for the new KPEB and introduce a completely new station? Besides that, there are a few other things showing up. There's also a translator licensed to Park City on 103.1, plus Dockets 02-14 and 02-166 that propose several more allocations out in the Uintas on the same channel. Haven't read those yet. Now throw a

Kyle, did you hear any legal IDs? I wouldn't be too surprised is K276DP was audable in Morgan. KJQ (main feed) still isn't IDing KPEB on air that I've heard.

Beat me to the punch there, I was going to say KPEB isn't ID'ing on KJQ's feed so maybe its just doing that during testing (someone pointed that out). I lose 103.1 pretty easily going up parts of Parley's so I don't know if that translator would be audible in Morgan- that earlier post from "student" would suggest no.

Odd. Was that over the music or somewhere else? There really isn't much room in there to move.
I did a little more digging on Mr. Flinn (owner of KPEB). He's been a busy little beaver. Here are the stations he's putting on the air. Note the most recent application stuff was the end of january. (Hope this pastes ok.)
