This is intresting because of the clash between KGNT and KMDG at the Weber/Davis County line. As it is, that line more or less marks where one station gives way to the other. It would seem that KMDG's coverage area would decrease if that happened. Question: does Millcreek care? As I understand it, both stations are owned by different arms of the same Millcreek Octopus, so a petition to deny on that end probably won't happen (unless they've gone totally insane.) It doesn't matter much as KMDG is now, since they're simulcasting KUDD, which has a good signal in that area anyway. What happens if the Power 107.9/103.9 simulcast is split? Hmmm.

Maybe with the loss of KWLW's signal looming, Marathon wants to take classic country on 103.9 valleywide at that frequency. *forehead slap* Oh wait, they flipped 103.9 and 104.9... I guess they could flip back, or think CC's had a hold on the area's oldies audience for too long. "Giant Oldies 103.9 - KGNT Smithfield, KMDG Nephi" - I suppose its possible. Would rural listeners go for it?

I lvoed the JRN oldies they played at 104.9, but haven't heard much since the flip. They aren't off the bird anymore, I don't think.
Come to think of it, increase power on KGNT is part of that big frequency shuffle that DSPete first posted about last November. I'm not sure how that related yet.

I think KUDD's simulcast on KMDG is a good idea...Their coverage is perfect now!

Hey guys....I'm in Ogden once a week. As far as I can tell, KGNT 103.9 (col=smithfield) is still oldies. Still JRN's oldies format. 104.9 Tremonton is JRN's classic country format. Same classic country network we run here in Evanston on KEVA. And as far as I know....as of yet...103.9 Smithfield and 104.9 Tremonton are both still owned by Kent Frandsen in Logan. No ties to Millcreek at all. That may soon change if the big flip flop goes down......cos that will also affect us here in Wyo. Our Magic 99 KNYN is also owned by Kent Frandsen. You all may recall a big posting a while back about all of the flip flopping and selling and buying which included something like moving 99.1 to Smithfield, and moving 103.9 up here to Fort Bridger.....which would allow them to move and/ up the power on 103.9 KMDG. Anyways...it's kinda confusing, but at present, 103.9 Smithfield is still JRN oldies off the bird, and 104.9 Tremonton is still JRN Classic Hit Country off the bird.

I really used to enjoy the oldies that 103.9 played bigger playlist then 94.1 but I also believe that 103.9 was not local if I recall

Ping DSPete!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say that 3 Point Media is connected somehow with Millcreek?
You might also be interested to know that 104.9 has been dragged into the Big Rural Radio Shake Up (aka Docket 02-290) I haven't been able to make sense of it yet, but there's something going on.
Wish there was a way to view all stations involved in a docket proceeding. Is there?

3-Point Media is owned by Bruce Buzil and Cris Devine out of Chicago plus some other trustees so basically yes part of the Millcreek/Marathon group also remember 3-Point just purchased Delta's 95.7 KMGR which the FCC approved on 3-10-2003. 95.7 also has (CP) which will increase the radius of that station no word on a format change yet but it looks like Provo area might be part of the new radius which there is a new station in the Provo area at 95.7 that is owned by another group ?? are they going to go after that to maybe boost 95.7 up to the SLC area maybe? Arent we forgetting 95.5 with the 100kw ERP??? no one is going to get on 95.7 north of Nephi, 95.7 may reach Utah County but it will be washed out by the STRONG signal from 95.5 on Little Mountain, and that application for an LPFM on 95.7 in Provo will never see the light of day

You're right it is a low power after looking at the fcc site, So that's out of the question.

You want to talk about out of the question LPFM applications, here's one I ran across.
99.9 in Salt Lake. Yeah right. Second adjacent to two full class C's about 10 miles away? Bwahahaha. The regulations say it would need to be at LEAST 80 miles away. Idiots.
The 89.5 for Salt Lake might have a chance though. The biggest problem I see at first glance is KUSR in Logan, though there are a bunch of class D's sprinkled around too.
