Well after looking over the Winter Trend it seems to me the KUDD is standing right up against KZHT and gaining some listenership with the upgrade of it's 103.9 signal in the Utah County and Central Utah area. The big difference to me is KZHT is not sure what direction it wants to go Rythmic a "KUUU" copy or a mainstream. As for imaging KZHT has KUDD beat all the way, just no good personalities on KUDD or very lame DJ's there. Now for KVFX if you really listen to this station the playlist seems much larger then both the big players here and the imaging sounds rather good for a small market station being beemed into the big market and if they"KVFX" were to do a big push of the station like bulletin boards, bus tags ect.. here in Salt Lake i really think it would start being noticed. But all in all the the tri-city area has a good pick of the top 40 stuff and if you miss your favorite song on one just flip it to the next you'll find it soon since they play pretty much the same songs over & over & over & over & over.................

I do admit kudd is sounding better music wise but the dj's are very boring need to pump it up a little guys also lets do a power mix on the weekends party party party maybe with some local mix dj's instead of a syndicated mix.

That's an old translator from the "First National Broadcasting" days of owning KRAR. It covers South Ogden, where there is a tiny gap in VFX coverage from 94.5 (main) to 98.3 (Salt Lake/Davis Co. translator). However, as CA has pointed out before, non-digital radios cannot filter it well from the new KOSY 106.5 on Farnsworth Mt. The translator really should change frequencies a little.

I have the BEST radio....finally. It's an old TOYOTA radio that's analog. It has excellent reception, and that's why I was amazed to hear the 106.3. Pretty good for a 20 year old radio, huh?
Best of all (mechanical) presets! You know, remember the kind you tune to the station, pull them out and push them back in? ;D ;D ;D

Yup. I know those. I think I still have an old GM one around somewhere. Darn thing drifted around a lot.
I think the days of the 106.3 translator are numebred. Besides getting nailed bigtime from the newly moved 106.5, the new booster for 106.1 is going to be even closer still (assuming that ever gets on air.)
Does anyone know where the transmitter actually is? The maps seem to show it's on the Weber State campus, but I can't quite pin it down. Maybe someone should put the poor thing out of its misery.

How far can they move it? Could they put it at say... 107.3 (since KENZ is pretty weak in that part of Weber Co...) or 105.3 (since KMXU doesnt make it up that far). 105.3 might work very well, because 104.9 is still a little away from that and same with KCPX at 105.7. Then VFX's little dead zone is still covered.

The End isn't THAT weak in Weber Co. They have a 560w booster just off I15 near Bountiful, and I don't think a 46w peanut whistle is going to do any better at 107.3
105.3 is a possibility, but there's still the question of KCPW's alleged translator on that same channel in the Oquirrh Mountains (K287AE) with 205w. A construction permit was issued, but i haven't heard any more about it. With that height and power, I'd be surprised if they were able to coexist. And K287AE was there first.
There are a few dead spots that could work. I'm not showing anything near 93.7. I'm not an engineer, but I think if you put a stick about 15 miles or so north of Ogden, you could have a full class A station there. Anybody want to poke a hole in that?

I don't know the rules for this kind of thing, but KZBQ-FM from Pocatello, ID on Scout ? Mt. is a 100,000 watt class C station on 93.7. Not sure if that's too close to Ogden to get another station on that channel. I'd forgotten all about 105.3! KCPW 88.3 doesn't go very far north, despite their new(er) transmitter, but I haven't seemed to hear of the translator since either. I'll drop them an e-mail and find out more.

KZBQ is 191km (118mi) from Ogden. A small class A would need to be 226km. If I had the time and the inclination (sp?) I could use a compass and figure out where it could go. Knowing the radio biz around here, somebody's probably already working on it and I should just wait for the app to show up in the FCC database. <g>
A translator still probably wouldn't have a problem.
