Anyone who thinks that abolishing licenses for radio broadcasting is going to work is a complete idiot. A quick look at the radio landscape of the 1920's is ample proof of that. And that's when there were only big corporations involved. Now, anyone with $100 can buy an FM transmitter and splatter crap all over everything.
The guy is completely insane. It will never work and it will never happen.

The problem with College Professors, IMO, is that they don't see a clear relationship from their work to their pay check. They think that the pay check just shows up twice each month. Like some magical money missive. (Wish I had one).
Once they figure out that this pie-in-the-sky idea needs sponsors, money to make possible, revenue stream to pay the rent, power bill, and employees. Then they have to be much bigger and now you're back to the congestion that occured in the '20s.
Once again, x is right on the money, this 'professor' is insane, and should get a real job so he can understand how the world works.

I agree for the most part. It would be 100% until insane was mentioned. That is the word that best describes what I hear from my radio receiving set. So perhaps.

I don't think he is insane just misguided, we need regulation if we didn't have it we'd end up with 'sex for Sam' being the least of the filth radio would produce, I don't believe the FCC does much to keep stations operating technically legal but it keeps them from becoming a complete in the toilet.....thing.....I lost my train of thought

If this was a perfect world where everybody respected everybody else, that idea would work. Anyone who thinks we actually live in a world like that is smoking something.

As technology continues to outpace goverments ability to regulate, this idea is not so far fetched. Just think a couple of years ago the thought of sat radio, VOIP, MobTV, etc was unheard of... I am sure that as time goes on the ability to access TV Radio PC will be in your hand in the form of cell phone technology.... so you'll need stereo ear bugs. MY2Cents, jack. PS If someone can make a buck it will happen...even if they only think that can make a buck. jack
