I got in my car this afternoon (about 3:30) and turned on the radio. I was surprised to find KUTV (Ch 2) audio running on KJQ! KJQ broke format for a bit to carry Ch 2's coverage of the announcement of finding Elizabeth Smart. You want a good example of why at least having the option to go live can really pay off. KJQ isn't a news station, but they saw the opportunity and took advantage of it. I'm curious whether this was Todd Nuke'Em's call or management. Did any other station carry significant coverage? I heard a brief announcement on The End, but that was also after KJQ's simulcast ended.
Interesting side note. KJQ's website has a brief blurb about it...and a link to KSL! Bonneville isn't buying KJQ, right? What's next? Citadel LMAing a station from Clear Channel??

Hey, give some props to Clear Channel my man. All their stations tapped into the Channel 4 feed except for the talk stations, who were grabbing national feeds.

Stations (to my knowledge) that didn't cover:
KALL 910 - Hate to say it, but nobody probably cared. I think KALL is totally automated except when Barberi is on, and even then it's probably pretty close to automated.
KBZN 97.9 - Probably no feed to tie into.
Citadel - Slow on the punch, did break for press release (at least KBEE did). Then someone in the studio got punchy I guess, and started a commercial set right in the middle of the 6:30 news conference.
Again, I still say KSL hands down did THE BEST coverage. I found it even more interesting than the TV.
KSL is AMAZING. I was driving down 3500 South, and they said "If anyone remembers seeing the evens call us at 575-(numbers) and that puts you through to the news, we'd love to hear from you." Within less than a 1/2 mile, I was listening to people's accounts. Once again proves that listeners do listen. Listeners do care! (Tell that to the VT-crowd)
Pretty cool stuff, if I do say so.
