I like to read radio forums from all around like Vegas & Denver ect.. and not being from Salt Lake I've noticed that KISS formats are dropping like the stock market lately and I 've heard that SLC just recieved a KISS station but in all reality it looks like KISS fm's are moving towards the WILD side do you all in SLC think that would have been a better move for Clear Channel to take? I know you have KUU92 or something like that but WILD 97 I feel with the way the music is leaning anymore would have been a real change for the 97.1 Frequency.

NO!! It will be around for awhile but as you stated the KISS thing is dead. As usual SLC is about 2 years behind and 2 quarters short. Once the newness dies out it to will be back down in the ratings that is IF it ever goes up?

My best is 21 months. That's about the typical life of a radio station. It will boom, like anything "new" usually does, and then fizzle out.
They sure are giving "Kiss FM" more effort than they did with the former "80s 90s Now" version of KISN 97, but not as much as Trumper's "Best Variety" KISN or they "80s and More" KISN when they had a great live night show Rockett, and I think they had a live midday as well.
VTing is great for small markets, but in the top 50 markets, I still don't think it'll work out in the long run.

Why are they playing so much rap?

Didn't you get the memo? Rap is "cool and hip" right now, it's sure to get ratings in SLC! ;D

Especially after that "No hard rock, no rap!" sign on slogan, right? hee hee I haven't really heard any hardcore urban on 97-1 though.

Let's face it, they're just another R&B station, being tooled with a bunch of modern rap that is aimed at not being offensive. They're basicly the FM version of Radio Disney, without the children singin gin the background.

The key to one of these AC stations breaking away from the pack is a killer morning show. Something that sounds d-i-f-f-e-r-e-n-t!!
NONE of them have that, so, in many ways, they are ALL failing:
Star, Bee and KISS will creep along with similar numbers for a good while, hurting each other through their shared mediocrity.
