Uhhh...hello! This station has been on since April. It replace the former "Oldies 94.3" which went away about the time the Iraq war (II) started and they went all news. The oldies format never came back. It's curious that this is on the Simmons web site, when they at one point were making a lot of noise in the papers in St. George that the particular stations listed (KONY, NewsRadio 1450, and at the time Oldies 94) were seperate from Simmons Media and being operated by Canyon Media. (Of course Simmons always had a minority interest in Canyon) I wonder if Simmons is planning to aquire these stations, which would surprise who? (No one). Interestingly, while the news in the paper in S. Utah was "we're seperate" (Simmons/Canyon) at the time they announced the sale to Bonneville the story Simmons was saying to the Des News was..."oh no, we're still in St. George and we will be staying there." (To that effect).

Simmons has a similar thing on Eastern Idaho's page- They'd never claimed to hold Sand Hill Media (KQEO, KADQ) but yet... look! So, anyway, Tom's right. We didn't know up here. Thanks for the fill-in there, Mound.

Thanks for the fill-in there, Mound. Sam-Tom: Sorry no offense was intended. I do tire sometimes of some here who think they have the inside track of everything happening at every radio station in the country (Does Randy Michaels post here?). Like you I have interest in stations all over the area. Having lived and worked for quite a while up in east Idaho, I like to keep up on the events up there, even though I couldn't tell what the stations up there are doing right now. So in that respect I'll keep my opinions to myself, but I do like to know what the market is doing so I hope the information here, and on Idaho Radio news is accurate. Interestingly since we some how are talking about east Idaho and the Planet, I happen to be up there the day KADQ made the flip to X-94. I remember thinking to myself, "since it's the same frequency, why didn't Simmons just call this one the planet, too, and the could have saved a few dollars using the same imaging and liners that they are using in S. Utah." Oh well....
