A total of 8 bidders filed bids for a new FM licensed to Evanston WY during the first 2 rounds of bidding. The high standing bid is at $26k by Cochise Broadcasting. Also drawing bidding attention is an allocation for Thayne WY (potential Jackson rimshot) where Skywest Media holds the high standing bid from a total of 6 bidders at $47k. How does that make sense? $47k for Thayne and only $26k for Evanston. Will the Evanston bids to exceed Thayne? Two other FM CPs are up for grabs but have not attracted much attention including Green River having received only 1 bid of $55k from area owner Wagon Wheel Communications and Devine & Buzil owned College Creek is the sole bidder at $70k for a new FM licensed to Superior WY (Rock Springs). Rounds 3 and 4 go today.

The Evanston frequency is 98.3 and is listed as a C2. The guys closer to SLC could probably tell us whether it could be a rimshot??
After 6 rounds of bidding:
Evanston @ $56k, high bidder out of 10 is Cochise
Green River @ $81k, high bidder Wagonwheel
Superior (Rock Springs) remains at $70k
Thayne @ $95k, high bidder Skywest out of 4 bidders
Marbleton @ $5k, high bidder Rule Comm out of 2 bidders
Can't understand how signals in Rock Springs & Green River could be bringing LESS than Thayne? Bidding resumes Monday.

Beginning the 8th the FCC started to conduct 4 bidding rounds per day so it appears as though the auction should finish by the end of this week. A total of 17 channels are being auctioned in Wyoming. The channel receiving the highest bid thus far in Wyoming is 107.1 a full class C (100kw) assigned to Lovell (near Cody). Jackson WY based Chaparral Broadcasting is the top bidder at $350,000 and has been the top bidder for 7 rounds which means they will probably be awarded the frequency.
Chaparral is also actively bidding on several other channels in multiple states but in Wyoming they are actively going after Evanston and Thayne.
Evanston is at a high bid of $122k from all 6 bidders; Green River at $119k from ONE bidder; Superior at $70k from ONE bidder; Thayne at $141k from all 6 active bidders; and Marbleton has one bid at $10k.
The high bidder for both Thayne & Marbleton is Pinedale WY based Rule Communications.
Bidding begins again at 7am Tuesday.

And now chapter 5... after 14 rounds of bidding here are the results:
Evanston - all 5 bidders at $178k
Green River - 1 bidder at $174k
Superior - remains the same (one bidder at $70k)
Marbleton - 3 bidders with highest at $15k
Thayne - WOW! top bid is $226k with 3 other bidders at $207k
Orginally I thought this channel (Thayne) might be a rimshot to Jackson but in looking at the area where the transmitter needs to be located in order to remain a C1 it appears as though this just might be a Pocatello ID rimshot. The transmitter coordinates are located just northeast of Soda Springs Idaho which is about 45 miles southwest of Pocatello. Maybe that's why it is demanding such a high bid??
Four more auction rounds tomorrow could push Thayne above $300k and Evanston above $250k. The FCC will take the day off Thursday for Veterans Day and resume the auction Friday. So far the auction has raised over $88MILLION for the FCC!!!!!!

Now a total of 18 rounds of bidding have been completed. Here's a summary: Evanston still has lots of bidding activity from 7 parties with Jackson WY based Cochise Broadcasting holding the high bid of $262k. The highest western Wyoming bid belongs to Thayne WY at $331k from another Jackson WY based broadcaster, Chapparel. Some new activity for Superior (Rock Springs) now at $85k while Marbleton moved up slightly to $23k. Green River did not receive any bids in the 18th round so it remains at $231k. No bidding Thursday in celebration of another government holiday (Veteran's Day). Auction resumes Friday!

Bidding in western Wyoming seems to be slowing with only 3 channels receiving any bids in the final round on Friday while the remaining 2 channels held steady from previous rounds. FIVE bidders continue to pursue Evanston with a high bid of $384k.
Thayne is holding steady with a bid of $440k
Superior also steady at $103k
Green River and Marbleton still have two active bidders each with Green River at $307k and Marbleton at just $37k.
Beginning the 15th the FCC increases bidding to SIX rounds per day so things should be decided before the week ends.

We updated the crazy bids in southern Utah and southeastern Nevada but some pretty high numbers are reported in sw Wyoming too.
Evanston - $795k Green River - $307k Thayne - $440k Superior - $182k Marbleton - $67k
Only Marbleton and Superior were actively bid upon in the 28th and final round on Monday so perhaps things are close to coming to a conclusion. Move-in and move around specialists Devine & Buzil's College Creek Broadcasting holds the top bid on 4 of the 5 channels listed above.
