Auction 37 of over 250 FM channels around the US has ended. Utah linked College Creek Broadcasting owned by Devine & Buzil was top bidder over-all with 38 high bids valued at $35.5M. Mesquite NV was the top bid channel at $7.1M while elsewhere in the west Overton NV was #3 on the over-all list at $6.4M and Cheyenne WY was #4 at $4.3M
In Utah, College Creek collected 4 of the 7 available channels including:
Hurricane @ $1.8M
Wellington @ $331k
Huntington @ $287k
Castle Dale @ $108k
Other Utah bids were:
Monroe @ $277k by Sanpete County Broad
Monteicello @ $158k by Skywest Media
Torrey @ $119k by Huryan Family Media
Perhaps the surprize in Utah was that the high bid for a C-2 licensed to Parowan at $875k by Kemp Communications was dropped at the last minute and apparently no one claimed it. If that ends up being true, Parowan will sit until the next FM auction and who knows when that might be??
In western Wyoming once again College Creek dominated with 3 of the 5 channels going to them including:
Evanston @ $795k
Superior (Rock Springs) @ $570k
Thayne @ $440k
Wyoming based Wagonwheel was high bidder for Green River @ $660k while Skywest Media picked up Marbleton @ $279k.
Perhaps some of the logic on College Creek's bidding is they have apparently focused on move-ins and stations that can be grouped together and perhaps operated OR sold as groups such as the central Utah group of 3 stations. Now we have to wait and see which ones are upgraded and/or proposed to be moved around!
