Sorry folks, I didn't realize the link which I posted earlier requires creation of an account before the article can be viewed. When I read the story earlier this morning, I wasn't asked to create an account first. Anyway, here's the story about the KFI tower plane crash courtesy of the DailyBreeze.com: Monday, December 20, 2004 Plane crash kills 2, knocks radio station off air By The Associated Press A small plane crashed into a radio station tower in La Mirada early Sunday, killing a husband and wife aboard the plane and temporarily knocking the station off the air, officials said. The Cessna 182 struck the KFI tower about 9:45 a.m. and the tower tumbled to the ground, said Bruce Nelson, operations officer for the Federal Aviation Administration in Los Angeles. The identities of the couple on board the plane were not released. The crash caused a small fire that was extinguished by firefighters, officials said. No one else was injured. The plane was headed to Fullerton Airport from El Monte when it crashed, Nelson said. The pilot was in the "base leg" stage of the landing process, when the aircraft begins making its descent. The plane was about a mile from the airport when it struck the tower in a commercial area, Nelson said. KFI was off the air for about an hour following the accident, said Leslie Lotto, an editor at the station.
