I picked out 8 random names of the blandest, unorigional, and just plain "why are you still here?" stations in the valley. Please bare in mind I was only aiming for MUSIC stations, and that if you want one about news/sports/talk... I'll make one later. Place a vote and voice your opinion! Here's a link to see where these stations stand in our market, just in case. Look for Market #32, Salt Lake City/Ogden/Provo. radioandrecords.com/Subscribers/ratings/homepage.htm

Channel is an X96 Wanabe. I hope the rumors about Channel being kicked off the air to support 94.9 are right! Goodbye and good ridance!

Well I'm glad that everyone looked at this topic so much that only one person voted.

Why I don't like Channel: The audio's so processed it seriously hurts my ears. Also, X96 is better at throwing in a fewer "softer" alternative hits. That's not really the right term for that, but you get my drift.
U92: How does it get decent 12+ ratings with such weird weak signals?
Also, KMDG is part of "Power" now, KWKD is the only home for Mad Dog. Who knows why the calls haven't swapped/changed with the format?

I have the anolog radio in my car (the one that's really good for an anolog radio)....
Anyway, as I skip by to see what's on 107.9 and 106.5, Channel bleads all over 104.9 and sometimes even 106.5! It's so loud, that it can't even stay on it's frequency. Isn't that sort of against some sort of FCC rule? If your assigned 105.7, should you also be all over the 106 and 104 frequencies too?
Anyway, I'll never have a chance of hearing 106.1 even if it does come on! KCPX is too loud! By not to say that my radio's at fault, I can get 104.7 and 106.3 of VFX fine (when KCPX doesn't cover it), in areas where you normally can't get those. And get this: I can pick up Q92 in Logan for the Salt Lake Valley. This trusty little radio can distinguish between the 92.7 and 92.9. Anyway, I thought that was pretty good for Toyota's circa 1982-something radio!
That's why KCPX needs to go. It's too much of a mess. Where did they buy their transmitter? It's really sloppy.

Who the hell needs channel anyway? We got X96! All they are is a pathetic excuse for what the Blaze used to be. Get rid of them

BUT I LIKE THE HARDER STUFF HMPH! Tom, You make a good point. I think KWKD "Mad Dog 102-3" does a pretty good job at covering the harder stuff... not to mention KBER's format. So why do we need 3 alternative/active rock stations + one more mainstream rock station? Seems like one will have to go at some point.

I caught them bleeding over 107.9 a couple of years ago. If you catch them again, make a note and file a complaint with the FCC. Clear Channel will either get it fixed or get thrown off the air.

Don't get me wrong, having all the stations we do is that got us bumped up to #32 in the markets. But then again, if you let crap sit around too long, it will start to stink. Ummm... the number of radio stations in a metro has NOTHING to do with market ranking... market rank is based purely upon metro population.
