Hello all..thought I'd post this for those interested. Just received word this morning that KMER 950am in Kemmerer, WY is now off the air and probably will be for a while. You may recall that last year Simmons purchased KMER as well as KAOX-FM and KDWY-FM from Chapparal broadcasting. I guess over the weekend something happened with KMER's above-ground transmission line and it fried the transmission line and the transmitter. I guess since Simmons was planning on moving KMER from 950-5kw to 940 250w in the future, KMER probably won't be fixed. They had planned on doing this so they could move KOVO from Provo to Bluffdale and up its power to 50kw. I assume that with the move and lower power that Simmons probably was planning on buying a new transmitter for KMER anyway. So who knows what's going to happen but for the time being they'll probably be staying off the air for a while.....unless everything is approved and Simmons is planning on putting in the new transmitter and doing the move sometime soon. Last I heard, it was going to still be at least a year or two before they did this.
Just FYI.

Is or has this station been leased by Jim Carroll or is Simmons actually running it along with the companion FM?

No, Simmons is not running it. That's all I'm at liberty to say. I may lose my job if I say any more. Sorry guys. Just reporting a station off the air.

Verrrrrrrry interesting. But no, you shouldn't say any more if your job is in jeopardy. (As opposed to Ken Jennings, who's job WAS "Jeopardy!" for a while. But I digress.) It might be possible to speculate (and that's all I'm doing here) that Simmons is at least seriously thinking about spinning off those stations once the downgrade-o-rama is complete. What do you (except Michael) think?
