KEVA and KNYN again prove what COMMUNITY radio is.

Today, KEVA and KNYN "Magic 99" - the Evanston radio stations, hosted a radiothon at Wells Fargo Bank inside the local Smith's store to help urge locals to donate to the two fallen volunteer firefighters and also donate to the families that lost their homes....

this is what RADIO SHOULD DO! Jump in at the right time with a powerful local response.

KUDOS to their station management and workers that donated/provided their services for such a bold cause.

We had fun and helped out a great cause.
Final tally on what we raised comes to about $7000.

Don't know about a re-post of this on the main board....usually Evanston stuff is on-topic and "inside the metro" (if you look at the heading it mentions Evanston). I think a lot of people don't read this section.

In any case, it made me proud to be part of such a great community and a great community station.
