Anyone know where you can buy a transmitter that transmitts with in the radius of not having to have a licence?

The best one I have found (and I've tried several different brands) is the C Crane FM transmitter. It will cover a whole house if you do it right. It has PLL and digital tuning across the entire FM band. It's $70 at www.ccrane.com

Honestly, if you want range...your best bet is to go AM. Try one of the Talking House transmitters, you can get one on eBay. They are great! I've got a newer generation model one running all of my mp3's from my PC, and I can almost hear it to the end of the block! If you're in the area of 3500 East and 7635 South, tune in to 1680AM and see if you can pick up some 80's faves!

That's exactly what I had in mind monstro, I have one day's worth of music on my computer in itunes so anyone that listens to my station wouldn't hear the same song more then once a day. I would probley use my ipod most of the time, which has the same library itunes does. Are there any MP3 players that crossfade songs, ipods suck when it comes to that.

Do a search for Audio or Radio automation. There are several neat software programs that will not only do crossfades but you can schedule files to happen at certain times. You can usually download demo versions and try them out.

Is there any local stores here in SLC that sell transmitters?

I've used PCDJ, and now use Winamp.
