Unbelievable. Oldies GONE in both New York and Chicago. Number 1 and 3 markets with no oldies outlets. (Well I think NY has a suburban lower power FM and Chicago has a basically no-show AM. Both WCBS-FM and WJMK appeared to have o.k. ratings, but I wonder if Infinity couldn't sell them. How long will we have to endure Jack as the savior of all radio. (BTW, I don't hate the Jack format, but I'm getting tired of hearing about it..... ;D )

This is tragic, both were legendary stations that deserved more of a "farewell tour" than the unceremonious dumping of the formats.
To spin it back to SLC for a minute, no need to worry about KODJ abandoning oldies. One would guess that WCBS and WJMK weren't billing what they once were, and that's exactly the opposite here. KODJ is the big dog in the CC building. They make money like its soup...very easily. They aren't messing with anything.

Holy <bleep>.
I don't know much about Chicago, but I came from New York. CBS-FM was the oldies station there for over 30 years. (Of course what's considered "oldies" has shifted a lot over that time.) Talk about heritage down the drain. Viacom/CBS/Infinity has serious problems with 2 of their other FM's in that market and they dumped CBS-FM for Jack? I don't think ANYONE'S safe anymore.
This is a stunner.

WCBS-FM was billing fairly well. www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/ent_radio/story/312015p-266927c.htmlAlso, the number 4 ranked station in Portland OR (an Entercom property) flipped from oldies to Jack, and that race for #1 is even tighter than Salt Lake. Ok, so we already have an official "Jack" station here, plus a Jackesque station in "The River". I'm still not counting anything out.

Psst... along with those 3... listened to POP FM lately? At least KXRV has DJs.... I hope that doesn't change!

Personally I think POP-FM is a little harder, more of an edge. Just my opinion though.

Well, I suppose it has more of an edge (playing new music) - but they're doing these "Pop" Tags that are essentially My 99-5's philosophy... and pushing their music to spot ratio (7 in a row, 7 every time!)
