I've heard that Clear Channel no longer accepts spots longer than :30 for radio? Is this true?
I know they use :15 spots, when most stations run :60 and :10 spots.

I haven't heard anything like that, but it's possible. I know that to me 2 :30's seems shorter than 1 :60 just because you hear a new <something> a lot faster. That would go along with their corporate "lower spotloads" mandate.

In my mind the average listener does NOT hear spots based on the lenghts. They here commercial UNITS. If stations really wanted to 'sound' like they played fewer commercials, they would manage their "UNITS" not the lenght. 3 30's sounds like a longer commercial break then 1 60 and one 30. Another area where stations can impact their listeners would be to make quality judgement on the commercials. Perhaps give a discount to the the better produced creative commercials and charge a "listener alienation fee" to the screaming Carl Malone Toyota commercials. But both of those are pipe dreams... Stations are ****s and will play any commercial that is paid for, regardless of length and quality.

Hey, sailor, I agree with the surcharge on obnoxious commercials but that would put Super Twit out of business - LOL.

One can only hope! Although I think that success has gone to his head, I think he'll cook his own goose here very soon with the firearms charge.
