New image, new call letters. KULC makes little programming changes, but is now KUEN-TV. Heh. I found that today as well. At first I thought Comcast was inventing call letters again, but a check at the FCC shows they were actually right this time. The change was effective Sept 10. Trivia, before it was KULC, it was KWBR and KTYY. The KWBR I would think was from its affiliation with Weber State, right?

Actually, if you want to go back to the beginning, Channel 9 was first licensed as KOET (my guess is that the call stood for "Ogden Educational Television"), and signed on the air Nov. 19, 1962. The station was originally licensed to the Board of Education of Ogden City, and the offices were located just down the street from KVOG (now KYFO) radio on Gibson Avenue. Of course, this was long before the license for Channel 9 was given up by the Ogden Board of Education and the University of Utah "took over" the channel. How's that for some useless trivia? ;D More useless trivia: the KOET call is now assigned to a PBS station in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
