So apparently last night at 8, the show "Life As We Know It" was kicked back to 11PM because it contained "sexual material, and commentary not sutable for prime time broadcast."
What kind of crap is this?

Kudos to KTVX for having the nerve to do the right thing, not the financially expediant thing. Don't want to watch it late at night? Use your VCR or tivo and watch it anytime you want.

I hardly watch ABC programming. I bring this up because isn't this a violation of their contract with ABC to air Primetime programming... IN PRIMETIME?
I mean let's face it, if stations had the power to do this, KSL would bump Will & Grace to 2AM every Thursday.

KSL bumps programs on a routine basis - they pre-empted an (apparently) especially disgusting episode of Fear Factor and Las Vegas for the Governor's Debate on Monday.

If the network doesn't take issue, I'd be surprised. Any network that takes programming off for reasons like that usually get a fine from the network themselves. KSL learned the hard way when they took SNL off three weeks in a row, and then voted to remove it from the channel all together.
In fact, KUTV started playing it right after they removed it... ON A CBS NETWORK. Bet that pissed some people off.

It makes some sense to have it on KUTV, since they were NBC before the Great Affiliate Switch, right? Now it's on the semi-official NBC overflow station "Utah's WB". UWB also ran one of NBC's soaps for a while, but I forget which one. They also get NBC Sports programming when KSL runs the LDS General Conference.
Odd thing. Yahoo TV says that KSL is running the SNL Presidential Bash special tomorrow night at 9PM, with KUWB running the same special at 11PM. I think the KSL listing is wrong. I seem to recall something about a Governor's debate on KSL that night.

You know at this point, is anyone surprised by the half-assed decisions the management, cough, coughTheChurchcough, make in the programming?
This is why people like this are confined to running stations like PAX and Public Access.

It is my understanding that KSL chose to not show SNL primarily because, at the time of KSL's switch in affiliation from CBS to NBC, they had a very finacially rewarding show on in the same time slot, Sports Beat Saturday, and that running SNL in its place would me a cut in revenue for the station.
While KSL is a part of Bonneville International, which is owned by Deseret Management, which is owned by the Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Church leaders do not make programming decisions at KSL, other than to tell it, as a for-profit company, to make as much of a profit as possible consistent with its obligations to meet community standards. In other words, at KSL, the key word is PROFIT, not PROPHET.

Remember that the individual license holders and not the networks are responsible for the content of the programs that they air. With some of the recent fines issued by the FCC for indecent programing (Super Bowl halftime) I'm not surprised at what's happening. Look at Radio for the Howard Stern fines. The stations are running scared!
And the Church is interested in profit, (Beer Commercials make a lot of money) but they also keep an eye on the programing too. This includes news content.
