From All Access:
"CLEAR CHANNEL is buying WB affiliate KUWB-TV (UTAH'S WB)/OGDEN-SALT LAKE CITY from ACME COMMUNICATIONS for $18.5 million, creating a TV duopoly with CLEAR CHANNEL's existing ABC affiliate KTVX (TV) (ABC 4). As a result, the company may need to spin off one of its radio stations in the market."

Think this means KUWB's news offerings are going to go up? I'd be a little nervous if I was a staffer on The Daily Buzz. Does that create too much competition for Good Morning America?

I think this was a dumb decision on both ends. WB has just sold it's freedom away and will soon suffer greatly for it. Any and all hope of them becoming an actual force in the marketplace will be tarnished by the idea that they're owned by an overbearing boss company who solely bought them probably just to compete with Channel 2's new deal with KJZZ.
And Clear Channel has just picked up a station that even with good marketing and a news show, can only go as high as 5th place in a market driven by news. Not to mention the already foreseeable future of massive advertising on all radio stations for their shows and vice versa, the revenue for both parties will probably take a hit as neither can make any real money plugging themselves. Don't believe it... look at what they're already doing to 4, and they're in 4th place.
I shed a tear for the good people at WB30, who while they may be getting a raise and some extra benefits for this, will soon either find themselves disgusted with their work environment, or will quit to flee the horror of "job evaluation." Which I might like to add, Clear Channel hates any and all management that THEY didn't hire. So unless you're a grunt who can;t easily be replaced, you might want to update the old resume and prepare for the worst within one year's time.

Sorry to tell you this, but The Daily Buzz is syndicated, so I doubt that there are many nervous staffers there. Here's a link to the station list: www.dailybuzz.tv/localbuzz.php Nonetheless, an ABC4/WB 30 hookup will be a shotgun wedding at best!

Wow. I didn't know they'd gotten that big. I thought they were only on one other station and that station dropped it.
The whole thing is still broadcast from Murray, right?

Their Website says they broadcast from WKCF studios in North Orlando, Florida. Mitch prepares the local weather forecast for many stations throughout the country and sends them out to each station just before the show goes on the air. Daily Buzz FAQ: www.dailybuzz.tv/contact.php

CA, guess you were out of the loop for once! ;-)
Yeah, the Buzz started in Cleveland, Ohio where I guess ACME is based, and Mitch re-located. They seem to have eliminated any local staff presence, who didn't really do news anyway- just weather and traffic. Remember that fun column and weather forecast in the City Weekly though? Those were the days...
