I have been listening to WWL New Orleans on the web and they are proving that radio is still a great resource when a disaster strikes. Many stations in the hurricane ravaged area are off the air, but it sounds like the broadcasters are pooling their staff and resources to create one feed that is airing on whatever stations are on the air. Not only are they updating news reports, but helping listeners find shelter, food, water, and lost family. It's good to know that radio can still fill the void and perform a useful function in an emergency situation. Check them out at www.wwl.com The web site is also pretty interesting.

It's neat to see how people pull together. It's nice to hear good stories sometimes -- to remind us that human kindness is still alive. We're not all looters and gas gougers.
