Does anyone else catch Craig Ferguson? He is fun-ny. I TiVo the show and he's just weird all around. I used to TiVo Conan alot, but lately I've been watchin' Craig Ferguson. He is GREAT with his guests... It's a laugh fest with most of them. He was on with Toby Keith a few months ago and that was one of the funnier shows. He and Toby Keith got along really well. Toby Keith is full of H E L Lthy bull and big laughs I just wish they'd change that theme song... That stupid pounding stays in my head pretty much the entire day that I watch the show. Then I wait a few days to watch the next one because I know I won't be able to get that song out of my head. Who's your late-night favorite?

I've always been partial to Dave, but I'm from New York so I'm biased. I never really get Leno. My biggest turnoff with him is that he apparently feels he needs ot explain all of his jokes. SOme are pretty good, but when he starts explaining it falls flat.
Conan can be really funny, but he keeps getting saddled with the SNL rejects for writers. Just let him do his thing and he'll do great.
I still miss Tom Snyder, but I realize he isn't everyone's cup of tea.

I like Conan too.. A few years back, he decided no one was watching his show, so he went to the airport and tried to interview passengers that were waiting for flights. Only problem with that? It was 2 or 3 a.m. and the waiting passengers were either sleeping or not watching him on the arm-chair tvs. He proved his own point when he interviewed some of the passengers anyway and no one had a clue who he was. One of the funniest experiments I've ever seen. One of the reasons I like Ferguson is because he is his own person, but his style reminds me alot of Johnny Carson. It's FUN to watch him interview guests and play with them. He is not vendictive nor does he ever try to call them out and embarrass the hell out them either--that's how Johnny Carson was. Carson never said anything to hurt a guest. Ferguson likes to play, but he also asks very smart questions of his guests and he gets real answers back. He doesn't talk to her himself talk or fill up airtime. Tom Snyder was funny. He had a wacky sense of humor.

Until abou 6 months ago I usually watched Jay Leno but I got really tired of the perpetual country music guests. Jay Walking was the gag segment just about every night... yeah I know Americans are dumb a$ses, it's sad more than funny. And the old fart fruitcake lady who can get more annoying than that? Personally I can't wait for Leno to ride off into the sunset and make way for Conan. The only thing I dig about Leno is they have a great Dubbya impersonator. Of course Dave gets real Dubbya footage which to me is much more funny/sad.
Dave on the other hand has been keeping my interest during the 10:30 time slot. It seems Dave's audience participation segments are a lot better than Leno's. Jay tries to make people look like a$ses where Dave actually has interesting conversation.
I'm a big Conan fan too. I'm not crazy about his interviewing (right, right... right, right ie. I'm not really intersted in what you are saying) but I like the push the limits crass humor (interesting that the push the limits crass humor is what bugs me about the fruitcake lady... I guess it's all about timing and talent.)
So here it is:
Dave and Conan = Thumbs Up
Leno = Thumbs down
haven't seen Craig Furguson
And Carson Daly is just awful.

Craig Ferguson had a funny monologue on Friday night. He's so funny... If you have a chance to watch, you may really get into it.. If not, it could be that I'm kind of punchy when I watch it and that's why I think it's so funny. No, really...it is pretty funny... I heard that Comcast On Demand is playing some Carson (from those Johnny Carson tapes that were being sold on tv last year). To get On-Demand, press 1 on your Comcast remote (the black remote with the black and blue buttons). Then scroll to TV Entertainment and press "OK". Scroll to Tube Time, press "OK". Scroll to Carson's Comedy Classics, press "OK". Pick a show that's listed and press "OK", Scroll to the icon that looks like an eye. Press OK.

I heard that Comcast On Demand is playing some Carson (from those Johnny Carson tapes that were being sold on tv last year). Oh good heavens. Based on what I see, that's probably the same syndicated package that was airing back in the mid 80's. (The info says the sketches are from 1972-1982.) They just dug out an old set of tapes and ran then through the digitizer. Color me amused.

Yeah, I think you're right. I just watched some of them. I liked when Joan Embry used to show up with the animals. Those were good times... I guess ya can't go wrong with an animal. Even if it did something disgusting, it was funny. Carson had great expressions, when he did an animal segment. I read he really was afraid of most animals, but you wouldn't know it. He acted so comfortable with them. I bet he wasn't that scared after a while.

Startled a few times to be sure. He'd be nuts to not be at least a little apprehensive. You never know what an animal will do in a strange surrounding. Being able to keep a cool head and just roll with whatever was happening marks the greats from the okays.
Reminds me of a segment with "Biker Billy" Hufnagle on Leno's Tonight Show. If you've never seen Billy, he's a chef. He likes hot stuff. Like REALLY hot stuff. Like burn-your-mouth hot peppers. So he's on with Leno and he's cooking up some hot peppers. And those things give off a really powerful fume. It starts burning Jay's eyes and he's in some serious discomfort. He came somewhat unglued. He really looked like he wanted to retreat to his dressing room right then, but of course he couldn't. The fact that he just let the situation get the better of him showed that he wasn't at the top rung of that genre of performer. I would imagine in a situation like that Johnny might have gone "Wow! Those are some REALLY strong peppers!" or Dave would have made some kind of sarcastic remark about his eyes being sauteed or something. This is where you separate the men from the boys.

When I lived in SoCal I was travelling (very slowly) on the 405 near the Santa Monica Blvd exit and look out my passenger passenger window and saw Jay Leno broken down in his Ferrari fuming and throwing a fit kicking dirt and cans screaming on his mobile phone. This was about '95 or so.
I just love it when famous people have an emotional breakdown when they have to deal with the real life stuff real people deal with all the time.
