I was just wondering...on March 18 WWE's gonna bring back Saturday Night's Main Event in primetime and knowing KSL's stance on certain other shows on Saturday Night, i was just wondering if they were even going to show it.

A better question would be....
"Will ANYONE watch it if they do show it?"
On a slightly different topic. I was watching some Sunday sports shows on KSL recently and they prempted commercials. But just enough came through before someone hit the dump button. The commecials were for Poker.net and paradisepoker.com. These were national spots during Arena Football.

Well, I have seen KSL run a Texas Hold-'em tournament broadcast from NBC as a network show once about a year ago. Just six weeks or so before President Hinckley talked about gambling generally at Conference, and poker in particular.
Has anyone else seen any of these before last April or after?

Hey Brady, I think they are going to play the WWE show, but I'm not sure when... will try to find out. James "Has anyone else seen any of these before last April or after?" I haven't seen any tournaments or ads except on Bravo's "Celebrity Poker Showdown" and the World Poker Tour on various cable networks. I'm becoming a poker watchin' nut now. Would LOVE to play, because of all I've learned from watching over and over, but I guess I'll have to stick with winning the Downtown Texas Holdem game on my cell phone.

Who shows the Saturday late-night Main Event? That would be my bet on who gets the primetime show.

I don't think KSL will have a choice. NBC Universal signed a major deal with the WWE, and McMahon made sure one of the big points of moving was to avoid the censorship they had to partake in with Viacom. Which means no editing, no blackouts, and no replacement programming from NBC or its affiliates. I wouldn't be surprised if this is actually a test run for the WWE to see if they want to move Smackdown! to NBC when the contract is up with Viacom on the UPN/CW deal. And if NBC wants them on there.

Well i do know that they are both owned by NBC Universal. Plus back when USA got Raw back in October they started talking about doing something like that with NBC since they are both the same company's networks. So the only question would be if KSL is going to show it in primetime or send it to WB, like they usually do with sporting events when conference goes on.

You can tell how much I'm into wrestling from this post.....
I remember when the Saturday Night's Main Event show was in Saturday Night Live's regular 11:30/10:30 timeslot. How long has it been since that's been there?
(And yes, USA is part of Universal that NBC bought not too long ago.)

This is just one of those shows that if someone wants to watch it... fine. But seriously is this the best NBC can do. I know the missing teeth, hillbilly crowd really likes the Wrasslin' but is it a prime time advertising draw? Is there a vast untapped disposable income in trailer courts?
I mean, how many nasty Right Guard the official deoderant of NASCAR commercials can they show. A better question is why advertise deoderant to the NASCAR crowd anyway?
If indeed they MUST show it, This is one time I feel sorry for KSL having to show something... OK not really.
Of course unlike a lot of people in the state who are unaware of the ability to change channels and would much rather practice censorship, I can and will choose not to watch.
As an aside is there a web page similar to randr.com for tv ratings by show by market that is freely accessable? (nielson overnights or whatever they are called)
I get curious what kind of ratings off the wall "crap" like WWE in prime time actually pull.

I would think that Nielsen would have a site that would give some ratings info.
Nationally, I used to see the week's grid with ratings in Broadcasting and Cable magazine. They would show nonrated shows like the State of the Union address or other Presidential stuff that ran in primetime. But with the recent revelation that American Idol pulled more viewers than all the rest combined that night I'm not so sure on that one.
The Olympics did well in this market, and AI womped on NBC during that timeslot during the Olympics everywhere else. So where are the local ratings then if they can tell us something like that?

Wrestlings mainstream now. Its not just for the hicks anymore...but seriously.....lately Mcmahons gone nuts, hes exploited a mans death(eddie guerrero), showed a person trying to commit suicide(former ref tim white) and to top it all of hes gonna start a bisexual love triangle in the next couple months as well. So im thinking that for their return to "actual" prime time television, hes probably gonna do something that disgusts us all....but alas, hes made this a billion dollar industry by doing what hes been doing for this long so i wouldnt put it past him to do something that alarms the so called "censors".

Here's something that bugs me. The misuse of the word "censorship". When was the last time any program was actually censored on TV? No, deciding not to air something is NOT censorship. Censorship, by definition, is attempting to suppress something. I'm not aware of any attempt by any area broadcaster to suppress anything. If KSL doesn't air something, NBC is free to shop it to Utah's WB, K-Jazz, Z-24 or whoever. That's not censorship. James, you'd probably like www.tvweek.com/page.cms?pageId=10 You have to wait a bit for the results, but the national numbers are all there. Nothing I know of that's specific to SLC though. FWIW, I agree that wrestling's gone mainstream. I catch one show roughly every 2-3 years just to get a laugh. I simply can't take it seriously. No doubt the performers involved are extremely athletic and in top physical condition. Doing what they do is incredibly hard work. I just can't see it as anything other than a macho version of improvisational theater. They know where they're going beforehand. How exactly they get there isn't clear. I'm convinced it's scripted, at least in a loose form.

For now, KSL is planning to air the program. Don't know time of program yet.
