The FCC released a national list of TV stations and where they will be found when the DTV transition is complete in 2009. It's a pdf file, and you will have to scroll down to near the end of the file, as it's done alpha by state. hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DA-06-1082A2.pdfI'm not sure if anyone noticed this, but KUTH is now on 32 and KUTF appears to be on 12 now. Univision and Telefutura apparently have swapped frequencies.

The KUTH, KUTF and KCBU calls seem to keep moving. It's hard to keep them straight. It's equally hard to keep the affiliations straight 'cause they seem to keep moving too. Here's a little history.
Ch 12 Logan ----------- KUTF 07/08/2005 KCBU 04/29/2005 KUTF 03/31/2005 KCBU 12/17/2004 KUTH 06/09/2000
Ch 32 Provo (Lake Mountain) --------------------------- KUTH 12/17/2004 KCBU 03/17/2003
Ch 3 Price ---------- KCBU 07/08/2005 KUTF 04/29/2005 KCBU 03/31/2005 KUTF 03/12/2003
And that doesn't even get into the translators.

Now to the digital allottments. Looks like the only one of the major players in the metro that will be in the VHF band will be KSTU on 13. They have great coverage in NTSC now, but I think being the only V after the transition might be a disadvantage. A lot of people are going to be using home antennas to get the HDTV signals. If you're looking at a set-top antenna, the U's can be received with a fairly small round loop or bow-tie. A V is going to require those long rabbit ears that are harder to hide and more in the way. Will people put up with it or will they mostly shun Fox because they have to put up the antenna?

But is will cost KSTU less to power it. Advantage FOX. If it matters.

...and signal will go farther with less. That does matter.

...and their signal will get through trees, around buildings and over mountains better than the UHF's. Fox is smart. What are the others thinking? ...and a lot of UHF antennas will pick up channel 13 just fine, but not channel 2, for example.

There's been a lot of speculation that the DTV's will be forced off the VHF band. That was the original plan, but the FCC backed off. They could change their mind again, and that could be costly.
13 does come in better than 2 on a UHF antenna, but it also comes in better on a VHF antenna. I'm not sure there's a big difference.
