(Continuing the point Stitch made in another thread)
It's been pointed out elsewhere that CBS (then Infinity) made no visible attempt to tell Stern to shut up about the move to Sirius. They knew what he was talking about and let it happen. CBS was content to ride the Stern gravy train until it hit the end of the line. Now they want to take it for one last ride. I don't see how this goes anywhere, unless there's a smoking gun memo somewhere ordering Stern to shut up. I doubt there was. All the publicity he was getting was getting people to tune into the show and increasing the ad rates for that timeslot. If CBS had tried to muzzle him or fire him, they'd lose all that money. They couldn't do that and Stern knew that. The only action that CBS publicly took was a one day "suspension" that was really a vacation day that Stern had scheduled a month earlier! (Convienient that the suspention happened on a day that Stern wasn't going ot be there anyway, eh?)
CBS Radio has been running on autopilot for a while now. This is just another example of how they don't have their act together.
