Bankruptcy doesn't mean the network is dead. Companies do it quite frequently to get a handle on their debt.

Hence the reason why I put the thread title in the form of a question. The article indicated that Air America may or may not declare bankruptcy. And while bankruptcy doesn't necessarily indicate that the network is dead, I still don't think there's much of a chance of Air America trying to get ratings in a market as conservative as the SLC metro, especially if the network is having financial difficulties.

One never knows, one of our small AMs that is struggling could try it to get attention, so never say never, stranger things have happened

I have long since given up making sense of programing decisions.

If I were the PD of a smaller station, I would frankly take the Air America offering. Even though Utah is the Redest of Red States, there are still a large group of liberals here who hate George Bush. Rocky Anderson is their poster boy. As a PD, I would much rather have ALL of the smaller liberal group, than be fighting for a share of the local religion dominated conservative group.

Sailor's right, but not only for the reason he said. As I said before, the station doens't care WHY people listen as long as they do. The conservatives would likely listen as well just to "keep tabs" on what the "opposition" is doing. Further, entertaining radio is listened to regardless of whether you agree with it or not.
I think it's a bit of a long shot, but given the sorry state some stations are in now it probably isn't any worse than what's on now. And if some of these proposals go through and there are even more stations coming on air, you've got to find something that isn't the 4th or 5th station in the market doing that format.
