Radio Station Apologizes For 'Muslim Jeopardy' Announcer With Fake Accent Riles Islamic Group
POSTED: 10:11 am CDT October 3, 2006 UPDATED: 10:39 am CDT October 3, 2006 Email This Story | Print This Story MINNEAPOLIS -- Top 40 radio station KDWB-FM in Minneapolis has apologized for an on-air comedy skit called "Muslim Jeopardy."
The Council on American-Islamic Relations said the skit included an announcer using a fake accent to introduce contest categories such as "infamous infidels" and "smells like a Shia" -- and threatend to behead a female contestant who got an answer wrong.
Monday, the station's Web site said: "KDWB does not condone making light of Islam and Muslims." <A TARGET="_top" HREF="http://ad.doubleclick.net/click%3Bh=v8/3473/3/0/%2a/m%3B29252270%3B0-0%3B0%3B12944648%3B4307-300/250%3B18363384/18381279/1%3B%3B%7Eaopt%3D1/1/9c181d/0%3B%7Efdr%3D25293206%3B0-0%3B0%3B12660749%3B4307-300/250%3B14078336/14096232/1%3B%3B%7Eaopt%3D2/1/1b/0%3B%7Esscs%3D%3fhttps://www.lowermybills.com/servlet/LMBServlet?the_action=NavigateHomeLoansAdRedirect&pgid=12944648&aid=29252270&cid=18381279&moid=4119"><IMG SRC="http://m1.2mdn.net/979780/crdn_it_lre_PassStRtTightRopeMoon15s_CW510_1698newdyn_0906_300x250.gif" BORDER=0></A>
The station added that it regretted that listeners found the skit to be "insensitive."
