NPR war correspondent Corey Flintoff lectured USU communication and journalism students Wednesday in Logan. Flintoff also appeared on the college owned KUSU FM's Access Utah with Lee Austin prior to the lecture. Flintoff told Austin that covering the Iraq conflict is difficult due to a number of factors including the sheer danger and the continually changing mission by US and Allied forces. He's not the only one.
Friday the 18th they had Fred Child, the host of 'Performance Today' on Access Utah. This interview was very fascinating, told how they put that show together (it's not as easy as you think), and his thoughts on radio, particularly classical music broadcasting.
They have a two-week lag time on the podcasts, so wait unti a week or so has passed before looking for that on upr.org.
For those that want to hear Performance Today, it's at 9am on KBYU-FM and 11am on KUSU/KUSR and their translators. Airs for two hours each day Monday-Friday.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that he's also going to be at Abravanel Hall for the 'pre-concert talk' that precedes the concerts this next Friday, before the Utah Symphony presents Carl Orff's 'Carmina Burana'. The next day he will go down to that diner in Torrey that is the stuff of legends. I forget the name of the place.
