Is it just me? Or would all those translators seeking to sign on completely destroy the Salt Lake Market?
If there are that many potential signals on in Salt Lake... if I were Clear Channel, Simmons, or Citadel, I'd be looking to get OUT of Salt Lake City as fast as possible. No one can make any money when there's THAT much saturation.

Yo Homey, many of those are just translators for current stations.

There were an extremely large number of translator apps in March of this year.
Some were on the news page, but alot more were found this morning on the FCC page. There are some big plans by at least one Utah broadcaster, not to mention the out-of-state religious ones.
First off, the ones for EMF ('Educational Media Foundation') are probably to fill in areas where other apps are going to knock out half the coverage area of a current signal. Alot will be for the new KNKL North Ogden station but they will broadcast KLOV Winchester Oregon until that hits the air.
KBYU-FM is looking at a statewide network. Much of this is along the US-89 and I-15 corridors south of Utah County. There will be more for sure in the next filing window, and they should get most of these as I saw no competing apps for many of the frequencies. Some towns have multiple apps by KBYU on different frequencies, so not all will be granted, I'm sure.
There is also an extensive number of apps for other national relgious outlets like CSN International. It looks like they are going for everything they can lay claim to. Not just them, but EMF and several other n etworks. None of these are locally originated as far as parent stations are concerned except for K-Love, which will have a station in Ogeen (KNKL) and St. George (KAER rebroadcasting Air1), but even then the programming ALL comes out of Sacramento.

If there's a blank message, could the sysadmin clear it?
Now for what I'm trying to do here. I wanted to update you on what I'd found regarding the translators. I've posted another message (and a followup) to the thread labeled 'Translator boom!' that details more info I found on the KBYU-FM filings, and on the religious filings as well.
