I have noticed that KSL has stopped using the Eyewitness News slogan. This is newsworthy because I think they have used "Eyewitness News" for more than 30 years. Anyone know the story behind this?

I'm not surprised that they phased out the name, though. They original "Eyewitness News" was a brand, or style, of newscast. According to Wikipedia, the reporter would be the eyewitness to the news, and that seems to be the way that most newscasts are handling the news today. This format was created back in the late 50's. The only format that I can think of used today is the "Action News" campaign, which can be seen on KTNV in Las Vegas.

Yes they are still using Eyewitness News at the top of the newscast but that's pretty much it. Throughout the rest of the newscast everyone say's KSL 5 News.

2 News, ABC 4 News, Fox 13 News, KSL 5 News...it would make sense to take out 'Eyewitness.' -- I watch but don't pay attention, do they still use 'The News Specialists?' News Specialist So-and-So is LIVE where ever...?

They have not used "The News Specialists" for several years.

This all may be in preparation for the digital transition on June 12. At that time they will only be on channel 38, so it makes sense to change partially ahead of then.
Given nearly everyone's moving to new channel positions, then what becomes of 'News 4 Utah'? That was the old slogan for ABC4 News, and I would presume there would be slip-ups now and again there saying the old slogan.
