I'm going to say KSL jumped do to the war coverage I estimate a decrease next book watch for a 7+ next time with K-BULL or FM 100 to go back up. AS for KZHT until they find out what direction they want to go hip-hop or true top 40 you'll see them rise again but if the rumor is true about Simmons buying KUUU and or KUDD maybe KZHT might end up a loser it seems Simmons can push those stations better then Millcreek and make them more popular if they don't change formats on them I think you will see the FCC vote for the change and once Bonneville takes over the stations Simmons will rebuild.. Interesting times ahead. As for this site I'm new and really thank the webmaster for an awesome radio site.. Comments anyone on the trends?

I must say that was the most interesting book I've seen in a while.
The top end was no surprise. I am surprised that Oldies isn't as strong lately. Arrow must really be a strong station.
Hashing the 12+ numbers, since I have nothing else, I'd say that "Kiss 97.1" isn't taking off as well as Stu Stanek probably hoped. Extrapolated into the complete book, it'll probably only pull a 2.1. I don't expect to see any changes though, as it may have a chance to catch on now that it's playing some 80s again, although their playlist seems pretty skinny - no surprise there.
ZHT is tanking a bit. I've expect such a station, back in the day to pull a 6.2. But a 2.6? Of course, I can understand what they're going through over there. It's like they turned their back for a moment, and Power, U, Star, and who knows who else, broke in and shoplifted a good chunck of their listeners.
Can you say "Changes?" I think an interesting domino effect is about to play out If Bonneville buys Simmons' stuff, then Simmons buys Millcreek's and if they dump U, say hello rap 94.9. If they try to compete with Power, U, and Star, ZHT is probably doomed. KISN may be as well.
So, who's safe? Nbbody. This is radio for you folks. When you least expect it your comptition walks away wth 75% of you audience.
Also, KCPX seems surprisingly strong. I always thought it would tank, but it seems alright, ratings-wise. I'd give it a 0.0 for the amount of time I listen to it . . . hey that's a tie with X96, 0.0!
All in all, I think the "war" will be fun to watch.

I agree! If Simmons buys Milcreek Stations ZHT will be in trouble. However the rock trend is back at top 40. U, even if they stay the same is doomed. In this type of market only rebelious rap works. If you watch the trend of urban/rhythmic records they are going back to the more old school soulful sounds ie. ashanti rock u, fabulous so into you, even Nas is positive. In Utah if it's not K-Tel, MTV or spoon fed masses it wont work!
Soultion for clear channel?
Here's my suggestion.
Revamp Kiss to go after 102.7 and Kudd
unleash the PARTY MONSTER and turn zht in WILD 949!!!!!!!!!
OOOOh it would be fun! Good luck!

I believe it's VFX that's eating out ZHT right now, VFX has a much cleaner signal than even KUDD or KZHT. They also have better late night mix shows (not counting 'The Vybe', which is in a class by itself) --and by the way, there's a new syndicated mix show on KUUU as well--heard it last night about 1am.
If VFX ge's the translators registered for the next arbs, we'll find out what's really going on here.
As for 'active rock', I thought that KWKD would have the better book, they seem to have the better mix of music than KCPX. Ditto for classic rock, I really thought that KURR would do better than KRSP.
KISN? They lost their moorings after the all-80s format and I've not got any idea what they could do. With the success of U-92, then maybe they could launch an R&B-Adult format (not the same as what KFVR did), and see what happens. Maybe that will take off as well. Who knows!
It's time someone did a regional mexican format on FM as well. None of the stations that exist now pull any numbers, and the reason is they only cover a third of the Wasatch Front each, and none get very far past that, and it's worse at night. I predict a 3 at least if a regional mexican FM were to hit the air that covered the entire Wasatch Front.
