For those of us (me included) who scratched their heads "KCBU?", let me add that this is the new TV 32 licensed to Provo. I haven't heard anything yet, but I imagine everyone along the Wasatch will hear about it soon. I'd be willing to put money that it'll be a must carry station at some point. According to the owner's web page, it signed on April 15 running America's Collectables Network. (Nobody's surprised at that, right?) If you haven't nodded off already, you can go to www.cocolatv.com/kcbu.htmlZzzzzzz.

Now, now folks everyone has to start somewhere, channel 24 did the same thing before they got UPN, although I don't know what they could offer besides re-runs, if I'm not mistaken all the networks are taken

KCBU later may become a Azteca America affiliate. Is KCBU acually running programming or is it still running bars?

The Ch 66 in Salt Lake is low power. (Scary thing, I even remembered it's K66FN without even looking it up. Is there a 12 step program for this?) Probably covers the immediate metro ok, but I don't know about much else.
Interesting. I never noticed before that it's actually a translator. Is there a full power version somewhere, or are they translating off satellite?

Visiting 100k.com (well I didn't type out the whole shabang) anyway, I saw that their transmitter site is not on Farnsworth, BUT they want to move up there. Right now AzAm is also on cable at ch. 66. Anyway, their on-air signal is pretty poor due to the fact it comes from the east vs. the west (unless one turns the antenna). I think its satellite, because I can't remember any local programming on it... however, they do have a few shots of SLC in one of their "Es tu casa!" promos. Ok... showing I watch too much Spanish TV for my own good. ;D On that same note, Ch. 32 is on- yes, ACN Shopping (like a similar station in Boise, ID) so I don't think we'll be seeing any changes there. If only it was MTV2!!! Have a station ID in the right corner- U32.

KSVN is a CA. It's like LPTV, only protected from being bumped by another station by providing a certain amount of locally produced programming.
I never thought about translating an LPTV or CA before.....

I never thought about translating an LPTV or CA before..... Telemundo is also seen locally on two -CA channels 50 & 51. However, again, neither reaches Provo, I'd imagine. 50 is here in SLC and on Farnsworth (owned directly by NBC) and 51 is for Ogden. They do 2 local newscasts a day, weekdays.

First, about KCBU.
The owner has a stack of LPTV's and -CA's elsewhere, and typically does Spanish language, home shopping, and MTV and another urban-based music video channel on some of them. Go to the pages for Fresno at tvradioworld.com for the best example of this.
Telemundo is on 50 and 51 as noted. The calls are KEJT-CA and KULX-LP and they are licensed to Salt Lake and Ogden respectively.
Another odd one coming our way is channel 3 in Price. It's owned by the same party that runs KUTH and the channel 58 translator in SL for that. It's got calls but I can't remember them right now.
As for KSVN-CA, I get that one really well on cable. That and the Telemundo station are alot better picture-wise than KUTH is on cable right now.

Lots o stuff.
I have no idea what the rules for translating -LPs or -CAs are. If anyone can point me to them, I'd like ot take a look. The FCC site is a bit of a mess.
KUTH on cable here (the rebuilt system operating, I think, out of Salt Lake) has KUTH also, and I agree it doesn't look that good. Not sure where the receiver is, but it's likely a good distance from the transmitter located NW of Tremonton.
