This is a sad day in Utah radio today. Bob Lonsberry was fired from Clear Channel Radio. www.boblonsberry.com/writings.cfm?story=2895&go=4 I did not think Bob Lonsberry had a good radio voice. However, he did do something that Dug Right of KSL didn't even do. Bob Lonsberry would tie politics in to Mormon Doctgern. While I had an issue with this a lot of the time, I realized there was an audionce for this. Particularly in Utah. I can remember calling Lonsberry up one morning because I had a major disbute about what he said. I must have really pissed him off or something because, he cut me off. However, a lot of times I would call in and we would have a 10 minute discussion about what he was talking about. One thing I will give Lonsberry credit for is he seemed very interested in blindness. I remember one day he talked about UTA and Paritransit. He talked about how there was this person who went to blind class every morning and they would get there by using the Paritransit service. Then something happened and the Paritransit decided the blind person now had to walk to the buss stop to catch the Pari Transit buss. The blind person was complaining. Bob Lonsberry said that the blind person aut to be gratefull that the paritransit even exzists. He also said that if this blind person was going to blind class every morning that it would make sense to him that this person was learning good cane travel scills anyway and tfor him to walk to the buss stop was a good idea. A few weeks later, I called Bob Lonsberry and agreed with him. I told him about my experence at the LCB. i also told him that the people at the LCB expected me to walk to class every morning while I was there. I also educated Bob that they were taking voc rehab training to learn daily living skills. I lked this conversation we had because, he asked me a lot about blindness. In fact, he stayed on the phone with me about 10 or 15 minutes and asked me all kinds of questions about how blind people get around. He also told me he went to school with some blind people and he knew some blind people when he was younger and they seemed to get along in socity just fine. I also told Bob Lonsberry I agreed with his statement about parettransit 100 percent. I think he appreceated a blind person calling and agreeing with him. I have to admit, when I first heard Bob Lonsberry in 2000, the morning after coming home from my mission, I did not think he would last more then a year. Number one 1, I though he had a terible radio voice. Number 2. he seemed very silly. However, I was shockd to find he even lasted a year and a half. I realized it was because he talked a lot about Mormonism. In fact, I remember listening to Lonsberry the morning after I got home from my mission, and someone called in talking about his kids going to Muchuall activities. Then Bob broak in and asked if he stays at home while their kids are muchuall and studys Izah. For those of you who are Bob lonsberry fans, he still has his web site where he writes collumes. That is at www.boblonsberry.com/
