In 2004, a rulemaking was started at the FCC to move KQMB from 96.7 to 93.7 in a frequency swap. It's now been six years, and last week the FCC finally closed it off for good. In the end, KQMB was unable to switch frequencies, as the new frequency for KLGL would have had the transmitter too close to the 96.7 now in Mesquite NV that hit the air last December. Several other things happened, including a counterproposal, but that was pushed aside for its own rulemaking later. So after what may be the oldest rulemaking over FM allotments I can think of at present, the FCC leaves KQMB at 96.7, and still at Levan. KLGL however moves, to Mount Pleasant, giving them their first local station since a ten-watt educational went off the air in the 80s. hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DA-10-1194A1.pdf

Interesting. Any contour-signal maps available yet? If this change means that KLGL will be able to reach Provo from the main transmitter, would that mean that 98.3 would be free to begin retransmitting one of Sanpete's other stations, such as KMGR?

Looks like all they will have to do when they file the application mentioned in the order is change the city of license. The tower is only a few miles from Ephraim, nad the predicted city-grade contour includes Nephi and even Price. That means it will cover Mount Pleasant for sure from where it's at. So this will probably take place very quickly. The only difference will be the legal ID, 'KLGL Mount Pleasant'. www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KLGL&service=FM&status=L&hours=U
