Can anyone tell me what happened to KDYL and the Big Band Music they played?

Which KDYL?
1280 KDYL: Flipped to talk in 2000. Simmons changed it to the zone in '01. Been sports KZNS since.
1060 KDYL: Was big band 1060 KKDS ... flipped 1060 KDYL. Carlson flipped it to gold-based Oldies (50s and 60s) in 2008.

Ralph Carlson
For what it's worth, the old M.O.Y.A. big band format had probably 3 listeners ... and one of 'em was my 82 year old grandma. Until she got her iPod.

If you're within the range of KLGN's (1390 AM) signal, that station has a format which is very similar to the MOYL format carried on KDYL 1060 before they flipped to oldies.

lolololol Henry. You're funny I listened to KDYL and I am a young girl. My dad and my entire family listened to it and none of them are even near 80. But you're right, it is geared towards people who were young in the 1940's This Ralph Carlson must be some piece of work. Where can I write him? Thanks for the info David

I forgot to mention that KLGN is also rebroadcast on 103.3 FM from a translator located in Weston, Idaho. Too bad I'm not within range of the FM signal. I'd really like to hear what some of the songs from the '50's and early '60's sound like in full stereo when two-channel recording technology was in its infancy! BTW, I'm only in my late 40's, but I used to enjoy listening to KDYL when it had a nostalgia format as well. Because the station played the music my parents listened to, I recognized most of the songs that KDYL played back in the day. And as is the case with KLGN, KDYL also played more contemporary artists like Diana Krall and Nora Jones. That made the format a little more hip for a relatively young "old guy" like me.
