I caught the first show on Monday. I had forgotten about the lisp. It bugged me for about 3 segments before I got used to it.
Can somebody explain to me how CC thinks they'll get better ratings with Arquette replacing Lonsberry? Like him or not, Lonsberry had three things going for him that I can't see Arquette matching any time soon: He was a fixture in SLC (yes, even though he lives in NY), he had a sense of humor, and he took hard stands on topics.
Arquette sounds like one of those professional fill-ins. You know, the chameleon radio guy who morphs his persona and politics to match those of whatever radio station or market he's passing through.
He's also got that ol' KSL wishy-washiness going for him. Can't say I'll be tuning in again any time soon.

I listened for about 20 minutes while he discussed something about teenagers and cell phones or texting. I wasn't interested. The subject matter sounds just like RINO Doug Wright. I'll give him another try, but I don't hold out much hope.
What would really pull an audience is an intelligent right-winger with a laser-beam local focus. That would fit right in with their current programming and audience. There's a guy doing morning news with attitude on KLO. I don't know his name. He would be absolutely excellent. He gets more information into a 2 minute newscast than KSL does in an hour -- really.

And to think they could have had me in stead! To all who miss me or love that I've been sidelined, know that I am still trying to get a microphone to have some more fun on the air. Considering all that is going on here in Utah and nationally, it would be like hunting in a game preserve for material. Oh well, good luck Rod and I wouldn't mind being a permanent guest on your show. (Still) "The Voice of Reason"

Tom: Find out what Premier is charging KNRS to run Dave Ramsey ... and tell Stu you'll do a live/local night show from 7-10pm for the same price.
In a PPM world he might just take you up on it. Syndicated is getting murdered.

Tom Barberi on right-wing KNRS? That makes about as much sense as X96 playing smooth jazz for three hours a day.
If "syndicated is getting murdered", how do you explain Sean Hannity ranking #2 with persons 25-54, Rush Limbaugh beating Doug Wright and Dave Ramsey beating KSL local night show?

Latest ratings have Rush Limbaugh's station tied for 14th place. Hannity will join him soon.

slcut: Just follow CC's KFI in Los Angeles. Under the diary, syndies did alright because people would write "I listened to all of Dr. Laura," and KFI would get 4 hours of credit. In reality, and KFI knew it all along, people really only listened to 20 minutes. Just as PPM hit currency, Dr. Laura was gone - KFI added a bunch of local programming and are now going full-bore as "Southern California's live and local, more stimulating talk." They knew PPM would kill them if they didn't. The local strategy is working. KFI is doing great. Live and local from 6a-10p, sans Rush. News every 30 minutes, 24 hours - albeit not new.
For KNRS to win, they'll have to add more than just Arquette to the line-up. The question is money. If Tom is willing to work for what they are paying Premier for Dave Ramsey (or equivalent) than CC might just go for it. Of course, Ramsey could just be a trade-out ... Tom, are you willing to work for free, in exchange for a free set of tires once a year? lol

You must be psychic.....Boy do I need a set of tires!!! As true as that is, at my stage of career I mean it when I say, "Talk is cheap". I understand the financial realities of today's radio and would entertain just about any offer that would give me a microphone again. I miss it very much and would love nothing better than to be back on the air to give voice to local listeners and advertisers. That is why X96, RFH, is winning big in Salt Lake. And, YES, I'm prejudiced because my daughter plays the part of Gina on the Bill, Kerry and Gina Show. They are the cash cow of the company and don't play any music, they just entertain for 4 hours every day. Note to all G.M.'s.....Local WINS!

Barberi isn't a liberal-- he's just not cookie-cutter conservative. I'd take him over Arquette in that slot any day (provided they let Tom choose the sidekick- I still have nightmares of Holly Whats-her-face).

I too will add a string to attach to Tom coming back. Absolutely no talking about Utah liquor laws, lottery, or Utah football. In the meantime everyone will have to get their Tom fill on saltnet.
