Some interesting news has developed in radio. NBC is going to carry a 24/7 news format. This includes top of the hour news, every 15 and half hour. This will replace CNN radio news. I wonder what K-talk will do about this. I talked to someone at K-talk yesterday. They were unsure what top of the hour news they would carry beginning April first. It will also be interesting to see what 1510 will do. They are a CNN affiliate. I wonder if they will play the same top of the hour news jingle from the late 80’s to the early 90’s.

Most don't remember when this was tried 36 years ago, but NBC in 1976 started the 'News and Information Service' or something like that, and it launched in a number of markets. However, within a year and a half, the format was dead.
Did it nearly the same way too, but I think the station clocks were :00, :20, and :40 for national news, and if I recall they had some local slots so local stations could run what they had as well. But it could have been the :00, :15, :30, and :45 time slots for top headlines you state this one would have.
And yes even then, there were some big-name TV talent doing shifts on that earlier one as well.
