Have you been listening to 101.9 The Ebnd lately? I really like their flash back weekends. They played a song that I have compleetly forgot about. I also like the 80's Flash Backs that cousin Brad plays. The only things I wish the end would do is when Mike Summers does the requests during the afternoon, is put people on the air. Second they need to have lie air talent from 7:00 to Midnight. Third, they need to have a Saturday Night request special, or a feem like they did with the cold case on 107.5. But that have improved the format sense they changed back to the End.

Their sound may be more in line with the old End from way back when, but they're ratings certainly aren't. In fact, saying they're in the toilet is putting it nicely. I'd give the End maybe 1 or 2 more months before you see it go away - this time probably for good.

Their playlist has definitely improved over the past 6 months. The flashback songs are frequently surprising. It's not the same set of 50 "alternative" songs from the 80s and early 90s that we have been hearing non-stop since they were new. It frequently reminds me of the old KJQ days. I mostly like that they are playing more new stuff that isn't getting air anywhere else. I first noticed it back in October, when they played a new Jane's Addiction song that I had only heard on a non-commercial station out of Santa Monica.
If I have a complaint, it's that they're still a bit too mainstream. We can hear Coldplay on half a dozen stations, and there is no need for any station to be playing Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2012. But, in general, this is one of the first encouraging signs I have seen on SLC radio in the past decade.
*** Of course, as soon as I say this, I tune in and hear them playing "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam. A prime example of one of those "'alternative' songs from the 80s and early 90s that we have been hearing non-stop since they were new."
