Cumulus has killed off the active rock format in Salt Lake and has replaced 'Z-Rock with a new alternative format they call 'Everything Alternative'.
The main target is X-96 with this one as they are focusing acording to what little I've found on this indicates they are playing primarily currents in the alternative format. However, unlike X-96, they seem to primarily be sticking to the charts, but in the evening they stick in some harder stuff.
Cumulus is widely known, and often condemned, in other parts of the country for from what I understand is running all local station playlists out of Atlanta, in some cases I've heard it's a master playlist or chart for all stations in a given format.
The playlist issue is already dogging 101.9 and will result in the same thing here, most are going to go to the more local stations like X-96 for alt, and 103.5 for classic hits and classic rock.
As to airstaffers, they seem to have a full slate of people already, probably mostly Z-Rock staffers. 101.9 though picked up Jon Carter's sidekick 'The Coach' for afternoon drive.
