106.5 (KAAZ Spanish Fork/Salt Lake) has in the last few weeks bgun the process of segue'ing from classic rock to classic hard alternative.
Gone are a lot of the 70s/80s classic rock staples and coming in are hard alternative acts like Weezer, Incubus, and others. Some of these are artists that aired on the now-defunct 'Z-Rock' on 94.9 although that one skewed largely newer.
They seem to be moving away from their 'Shut up and rock' slogan, to 'Man up'.
I knew that the classic rock try was not going to go well, given KBER also flipped soon after and held its ratings even though the newer stuff was gone. KOSY's last book had been in the 5's and KAAZ's first was 1.8, and it never really got above 2.5, November's book showed them at a 2.4 but holding steady.
Now what about KENZ and their watered-down clasic hits format? They could go too, last book and recent books showed them well below the 2 rating, some of these were the worst I've ever seen 101.9 including the KPQP days.
