It never seems to fail. Around every holiday there's a massive media blitz to remind people to fasten their seat belts.
It **** me off.
Now don't get me wrong. Wearing your seat belt is a great idea. I always do. I DON'T do it because some **** of a politician told me to. I do it beause it makes me feel safer and is the smart thing to do. Why is it that politicians feel compelled to try to negate Darwin's Law? I say, if you want to do something stupid, go ahead. Just be prepared for the consequences. I'm sick and tired of politicians who try to control my behavior when it affects nobody but me.
Just once I'd like to hear someone in the media who has the guts to stand up and tell the Emperor that he doesn't have any clothes on.

UDOT has nothing to do with the enforcement of seat belt laws. They simply give us all those nice reminders.
Now the department of Public Safety, such as the Highway Patrol, does have that authority.

UDOT certainly was involved. Every *%&*#$ing roadway sign in the valley was turned on shouting at me to put my seatbelt on. This is to spite UDOT's claim that "To maximize their effectiveness, these signs are left blank when conditions are normal." (see www.commuterlink.utah.gov/2_tour/vmsigns.htm)I know I shouldn't be surprised. UDOT is part of the government and the job of the government is to stick it to the people. UDOT just does its job better than most branches. Or maybe I'm just old and cynical.

No CA you have my vote, we knew a couple who went out in their Jeep, one wore a seatbelt one didn't, they rolled the Jeep, the one lived because she wore the seatbelt, he lived because he didn't, wearing a seatbelt is Russian Rulette, just like not wearing one
